Idle Engine

Idle Engine

Photo: Oto Tip of the Day:

If the insides of a car are its organs, then the engine is its heart. One of the simplest ways to extend its lifespan is to not leave it idle for long periods, and accelerate slowly when you start to drive.

This is because the most wear to the engine and drivetrain occurs in the first 10-20 minutes of operation and the engine hasn’t operate at its peak temperature yet.
